It seemed obvious to me that the only way to get good at Zbrush was to try to sculpt something that I know and love very well so please welcome the world's sassiest Unicorn, Pete the Strong. Pete was a learning curve for me however much I love unicorns I had to overcome certain obstacles to continue sculpting him. The screenshot where Pete has one eye is the best example of how I had to research more complex tools within Zbrush to continue. I wanted to give him a second eye by using mirror and weld however when I tried this I got an error message. What I did to get around this was mirror the existing eye by going to deformation > Mirror, then onto Geometry > Modify Topology > Mirror and Weld.
Overall Pete looks like a unicorn so I'm pretty pleased. I've certainly made a lot of progress since my last attempt at a rather blurry looking Unicorn. I am aware that Pete's bum requires more attention than Kim K herself and it's something I will return to when I want something really realistic. I could also do with emphasising some muscles on his body as they're a bit all over at the moment. For now this was just something fun to learn the ropes of Zbrush whilst continuing my research into Gargoyles.
Throughout this task I also learned how to do a turntable render and successfully upload it to my Youtube channel which I'm extremely happy about. The next time I will include a time-lapse which was mentioned in my last workshop and is something I'm wanting to give a go. Finally, the reference used is here.
