These were two very quick studies to understand the basic structure of the buildings. It was also good practice to learn the duplicate special function a little better. The roof of the gazebo is far from perfect but I just wanted to show to myself that if I can grasp the basics of this, with enough time I can make it GOOD. The second study relates more directly to my current aspirations however, this is the Temple of Apollo. There are 12 columns in this and everything was rotated at 30 degrees with 12 duplicates (I think!). I'm so happy that I've been able to do these studies, I'm feeling positive for my final piece now. I will probably make a few more block studies and some block iterations before I start any refined work.
Omg I forgot about my vines. Yes they are full of ngons but I made vines and I'm so happy with myself! This is something I'm going to look at once my folly is done but I'll probably research a more efficient way of making foliage first!
These studies were also a good excuse for a quick implementation of 3 point lighting. I'm quite happy with the lighting on these pieces. Again it's not perfect but it's just what I remembered and already it looks SO much better than my previous attempts at lighting.
