Whilst wandering the cobbled streets of Norwich I inadvertently stumbled upon what will be my first master study in Maya. I'm not sure what is it, what era it's from or what it's purpose is at present - but I like it.
I like the mix of stone and wood, I like the complex engraving contrasted with the seemingly simple shape. It's easy to take pictures of because it's a stand alone structure. I think it will be brilliant for producing diagrams of and building it to understand how it was constructed.
The catch is I don't have a lot of time. I've not done any Maya in over a week which crushes me inside a little bit but I can't complain because I got engaged last week! (ho ho ho). I'm working this weekend so I plan to get the bulk of this done today and HOPEFULLY I will get this done before I embark on my journey back up North on Monday.
The plan is to make little diagrams of how this thing can be simplified and made. Separate diagrams of all of the fancy little bits because I will construct those separately and fuse them together later on. Bish bash bosh job done minus the texturing and probably lots of other things I'm currently overlooking. Here are my reference images:
